SonoAnalyzer Pro beta - version 1.4.1 released

Announcing the release of SonoAnalyzer Pro beta version 1.4.1. This is a 60-day trial version available free of charge to all clients who have purchased SonoAnalyzer OE (annual or one-month license).

This is a maintenance update including bug-fixes (one important) and enhancements. The important bug-fix affects modelling accuracy on the rectangular block Pro models - for anyone using these upgrading is highly recommended. There are two significant enhancements:

  1. A new "Managed server" analysis option, allowing the full capabilities of SonoAnalyzer Pro to be explored without installing any additional software (apart from SonoAnalyzer Pro itself). SonoAnalyzer Pro receives setup details from the gateway server making setup fully automatic. Currently one server is available in Western Europe (France) for use by all beta testers.
  2. New connection option (common to the OE version). Although SonoAnalyzer Pro is capable of running in standalone mode it still connects to the gateway server for updates and online analysis jobs. Further details are shown in the SonoAnalyzer OE 1.4.1 announcement.

Further details are shown below.

Enhancement: "Managed server" analysis option offers users the opportunity to test and run SonoAnalyzer Pro models without the need to install any other software - just like the traditional SonoAnalyzer models. The advantages of SonoAnalyzer Pro (more complex models coming soon, more direct interaction with the FEA post-processor) are retained.

Important: The managed server option requires a fast, direct internet connection. A connection speed of at least 10Mbit/s for both download and upload is highly recommended. While it will still work on a typical ADSL1 or 2 connection (upload speed from 256kbit to 768kbit) the analysis will be painfully slow. If a suitable connection is not available, users are recommended to install one of the local analysis server packages instead - for these there are no special connection speed requirements. (Speed requirements updated 13 November).

On initial setup you will probably see a popup message from the Windows firewall - you must allow SonoAnalyzer Pro to access the internet to enable this analysis option.

Bug-fix: On the Pro rectangular block models (user-defined and stepped rectangular) the model created was very slightly asymmetrical, in that where an element is fitted around a circular arc, the mid-point node of the element correctly follows the arc on one side of the model, but is placed in line between the end points on the other. This error applied only to Pro models in version 1.4.0 and is fixed in Pro 1.4.1.

Bug-fix: On the model selection tab in earlier versions of OE / Pro, when the category containing the curent analysis is closed, the program would lock onto the current selection, making changing to a different model impossible without closing and restarting the program. This has now been fixed.

Version 1.4.1 was built on 25 October 2013 and will expire 24 December.
